How to Test
Testing your Microsoft hardware is completely plug-and-play. First, connect your Xbox controller to your PC or mobile device via Bluetooth or USB-C. Next, simply press any button (like 'A' or the Xbox home button) to wake the controller up. TestMyDevice will immediately detect your hardware and display the live tracking interface.
Common Problems
Why is my thumbstick registering input when I'm not touching it?
This is called hardware stick drift. Over time, the internal potentiometers under the Xbox thumbsticks wear down. Look at our "Precision Analytics" gauges to calculate exactly what percentage your analog stick is drifting off-center.
My bumper (LB/RB) is double-clicking. Can I fix it here?
Software cannot physically repair a broken switch. However, by repeatedly pressing your bumper and watching the "Button Signals" grid, you can prove if your bumper is registering multiple phantom inputs per click, which means you need a hardware repair.
FAQ
Does this tool record my inputs?
No. TestMyDevice process all of your controller inputs locally directly inside your browser cache. We do not store, telemetry, or export any of your keystrokes or hardware IDs.
Why is my polling rate lower on Bluetooth?
Native Xbox controllers poll faster over a direct USB-C connection compared to regular Bluetooth due to bandwidth limitations. For competitive gaming, we highly recommend switching to a wired connection.
Browser Compatibility
Our engine connects to the official HTML5 Gamepad API standard. This means it works perfectly out-of-the-box on modern chromium browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Brave). Safari on iOS 14+ is also supported for testing controllers paired to an iPhone.
